If you were checking out my blog daily to scout for fresh
posts, you’d remember that I owe my readers and Ms. Jhia of the Red Jhelli Shop
a review of the Mary Kay Samplers she sent me along with the contact lenses.
I’ve been piling up all my posts so I’d have something to blog about even in
the busiest of times.
First of all, I would like to begin with the company behind the brand. Mary Kay®, a trusted global name in captivating color and powerhouse skin care for over 45 years, is available through Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants. From super effective skin care formulated with ingredients that deliver age-fighting benefits to on-trend makeup to body care that pampers and protects, you get customized beauty routines that fit your needs. And you can get the ultimate in customer service from your very own Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant. Mary Kay has been ever present in the lives of women and
has been providing different products in the beauty/cosmetics department which
cater to the varying needs of women (and even men).
To name a few of their products are the following (which are
also the ones I received):
TimeWise Microdermabrasion Steps 1 and 2
MK Mineral Eye Shadow in Blue Metal
MK Mineral Eye Shadow in Honey Spice
MK Mineral Cheek Color in Shy Blush
MK Crème Lipstick in Red Rouge
Let’s begin with the review.
(a)
MK’s TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set was the first on my
list. Mary Kay is one of the leading brands when it comes to facial care for
the wide array of products they offer to address skin problems or to enhance
skin appearance. This product aims to refine and to replenish.
Since I only received samples of
the product, not the entire tube, I can’t vouch for its quality in the long run
since the sampler is good for one application only. Step 1 Refine is grainy and
acts as a scrub to remove dirt and other impurities from the face. What I don’t
quite dig about this is the fact that there is a slight burning sensation when
you massage it. I dunno but maybe I was just rubbing it vigorously. Anyway,
step 2 is much easy on the skin. Since it’s basically cream, it smoothens out
as soon as you massage it. Another plus for me is the fact that it dries
instantly. I hate the icky feeling I get when applying lotion. I admit I’m never
a lotion-person same goes with cream.
The actual products come in
tubes and are sold separately. To achieve the desired effect, you must buy both
products and apply them religiously –making the whole process time consuming.
(b)
Mineral Eye Shadows. What I totally love about
MK’s eye shadow is that they’re very much pigmented and that you don’t have to
reapply over and over again to achieve the color being suggested. Another thing
is that it’s in a shimmery finish and it stands true to its description. Honey
Spice is a lovely color although you’d want to use it only as a base or as a
highlighter of sorts since the color is really light.
Blue Metal is perfect for
contouring and darkening the creases of the lids. You won’t encounter any
problems in blending these babies since they spread easily with the aid of the
right brush. Once again, the end product is in a shimmery finish just like my
Maybelline Eyestudio Palette in Copper.
(c)
Mineral Cheek Blush. The color is very light and
leaves a lovely streak on the cheekbones when applied. Again, this has a
shimmery finish to it so expect to have a glowing countenance. One thing I love
about MK’s Cosmetics is that they’re really long lasting and builds up
beautifully over time.
(d)
Crème Lipstick in Red Rouge. Now this is
something that I would buy over and over again from MK if I have enough cash.
The sampler came with an applicator which makes my life easier and the lip line
free of mess. Just like what I told you, my dear readers, I am in love with red
lippies and I have quite a collection of red lippies. SO this just fueled my
love for them. The color is so intense and when they say it’s red, it is red
just deeper. It is highly pigmented and long-wearing, I’ve left it on my lips
for quite a long time and still it has stayed the same. It glides smoothly on
the lips and is light-weight hence giving a natural feel to it. However, the
only downside is that its not too fragrant. If it’s in a scent I love then I’d
give a perfect score to it! J
All these samplers also came with a Mary
Kay Brochure dubbed as “The Look”. In this brochure, you may scan through the
different products you can purchase ranging from facial and body care to
make-up. Yet, the products are a bit too pricey; lippies go from Php600 to
Php800 and their facial sets range from Php1,000 up.
So there you go, dollies. Hope this review
helped you in one way or the other. I sound like an acknowledgement now. HAHAHA
:D
