It’s been quite a while since I have done a product review
and well, I’m not saying I missed it (lazy daisy here) but I owe my readers a
lot of them. I’ve acquired a lot of new products (at least to me) lately which
means a lot of reviews as well. Anyway, right now, what I have for you guys is
a review of the much talked about Virginia Olsen Mineral Makeup. I’ve been
seeing a lot of reviews of the products under the brand lately. I thought they
weren’t available locally (as in the Phils) but fortunately, a fellow blogger
who also happens to sell VO Makeup offered me to do a review on VO’s Mineral
Eyeshadows and I immediately said yes.
"Virginia Olsen is 100% natural, paraben free, bismuth & talc free, and pure mineral make-up suitable for women of any age, ethnicity or skin type. Our formulations are calming to the skin, making them ideal for women prone to sensitivities; and being fragrance-free, they are particularly compatible with delicate skin, giving a sheer, natural, flawless coverage. Further, our makeup unlocks the therapeutic properties of zinc oxide and the natural sunscreen provided by titanium dioxide."
After a few days, I received a package from Virginia Olsen
and I was quite amazed to see the packaging of the product. All eyeshadows were
in the loose powder form and were contained in a sleek, small, cube container.
The bottom part is transparent which allows you to know what color you picked
aside from the label. The only con that I can think of is it’s not so
convenient to bring during outdoor shoots or events because it can get messy
and since they’re contained individually, it’ll cause you a serious amount of
time to clean up and carry. It would be nice if there was a palette for all the
colors!
I created a look using all three colors on the lids, swiped my cheeks with a little peach color plus cherry lips and I’m good to go! :DI chose three colors and they are as follows:
Now for the verdict:
I absolutely love the color pay-off of these eyeshadows from
Virginia Olsen. The two darker shades are really pigmented that with just a
swipe you get a rich color and you don’t have to repeatedly swipe some shadows
onto your lids. The gold shadow was not as pigmented as I would have liked but
I think that was the intention, it’s supposed to come off as glitters and can
be used as a highlight. Take note that these can be used interchangeably as eyeliner, highlighter, or eyeshadow. There are minimum fall-outs though which can be remedied
by wiping off excess with a foundation brush. Aside from all those, they’re very
easy to blend. I chose these colors because the go well with each other or must
I say they complement each other well and would definitely work for a
put-together look.
As for the price, I think PHP150 each is reasonable enough for
the quality of the product. No question there. I have the shadows with me for a
few weeks now and I love using them for my TV shoots and when I’d like to go
for earthy tones/natural looks. I just wished they had a palette complete with
all the colors so I can just bring everything to the shoot. Hehe :D
I love it! :) Make a tutorial for this one!
